Common Plumbing Problems at Home

One type of household problems that would have to be fixed right away are those that are connected with the plumbing system of your home. It simply cannot wait. Why it is the plumbing problems would have to be resolved immediately? It’s because if leaks and other issues with your plumbing is not taken care of quickly it could lead to a great deal of waste and cause more damage.

The best option would be for you to call in a licensed plumber to fix the problem for you. Sometimes that is not always possible or it could take a few days before they can come over. In the meantime, the leak could cause serious damage to your place and waste a lot of water. It would help a great deal if you are familiar with some of the more common plumbing problems that you might encounter at home. Running Toilet

A running toilet can waste a great deal of water if it isn’t repaired right away. It would be the equivalent of leaving a faucet open. A running toilet is caused by some broken or worn out part of the toilet. You would have to check which part needs replacement. Sometimes the valve just isn’t closing properly and you would not have to replace anything. You just have to check the water tank and try to figure out how the mechanism works.

A Clogged or Slow Draining Sink

Another common plumbing problem that homeowners encounter quite often are clogged or slow draining sinks. This can happen quite often because all kinds of debris would pass through the sink. The best way is to open the pop-up, which is the valve under the sink. When you open that you can remove the debris that have collected and is blocking it. Most of the time that should work.

A Clogged or Slow Draining Tub

The common culprit here is hair that accumulates and blocks the pipe. It can be hard to remove collected hair and other debris, but you can use some chemicals to have it removed. You could also use a pair of long-nose pliers to reach in and remove whatever is blocking the drain.

Leaking Pipes

Some pipe inside your house could start leaking. When that happens the water could cause damage so you have to take care of it immediately. The first thing to do is to shut down the main valve of your water supply so there would be no additional damage. Then you can start fixing the leak, but if sealants won’t do the trick and the pipe really needs replacement then you better call a plumber to take care of it for you.

These are just some of the more common plumbing problems and how you can take care of those issues. There are other issues in connection with plumbing, but these are the more common ones that you should be familiar with.
